A note from the Knox FNC Chaplain

24 May 2020 by Andrew Edwards

It was great to get a green light from AFL Victoria for a return to training but the protocols around it are onerous and a huge burden for local sports communities. It’s clear that the road back to playing footy is going to be challenging.
I don’t envy our committee and the difficult decisions they face. I expect that the current circumstances are as challenging as any time in the club’s history. In this National Volunteer Week, I too wish to acknowledge the incredible amount of work past and present volunteers do to make KNOX such a great club and community.
Everyone faces challenges and there are times when circumstances dictate that we can only channel our energy into what’s immediately in front of us. The pandemic has been one of those times for many people. But the important thing to remember is that we don’t need to face challenging times alone.
This crisis has been a reminder of how much we all rely on each other and how much stronger we are when we all work together. None of us has all the answers, none of us are invincible. We are stronger when we all work together and look out for one another.
Looking after others also means looking after ourselves and practicing self care. If you need some tips on self care, looking after ourselves and those around us, the ‘Love Me, Love You’ foundation established by former Crows and Hawthorn player Lance Picioane, has some great resources.
And if you need help, talk about it with someone you trust. A problem shared is a problem halved.
